101 Foundation Brushes

Tweet I’d like to think that you can use any brush you have any way you please. If you want to use your blush brush as a foundation brush and it works for you then by all means do so. There is a general rule though: the size, shape, and density of a brush is what makes one brush work and the other doesn’t. With foundation brushes, it can get tricky as not everyone likes the exact same final look, some like invisible foundation, while others like the all-dolled-up look. I’d like to think that you can use any brush you have any way you please. The best foundation is the one that you feel comfortable wearing in public. To me, it differs according to the occasion, day, and mood.

Here’s a small introduction to some of the foundation brushes out there..

Foundation Brush:
Your typical foundation brushes are usually flat, to create a smooth even finish look. To me, they streak so I don’t prefer using them.

Stippling Brush:
This brush is perfect for tinted moisturisers and BB creams or even sheer foundation. I like how you can multi-use this brush, you can use it to highlight or to add some blush (of course a smaller stippling brush will do a better job).

Buffing Brush:
This is my personal favourite foundation brush! I like buffing in the foundation for a more natural look and it works perfectly, in my opinion, with any kind of foundation, mineralised powder, cream foundation, or liquid foundation. It gives you the airbrushed look without using a lot of foundation. Perfect for adding some bronzer as well!

Sponges:
I don’t really like using sponges unless it’s the Beauty Blender! This is the greatest sponge ever invented! Gives you a flawless look with minimal product.

Whatever works for you is the way to go!
